Okay, Jim - I'll act as your virtual memory on this one. You wrote to the R=
W about Speke and Ditton Hall in 1970, and your letter is in RW 18 Sept.197=
0 p.734.

Ditton Hall are a Blews six of 1878 (hence my interest, and why the referen=
ce wasn't hard to find), inscriptions and diameters 1 St.Raphael (29.5"), 2=
St.Gabriel (32.5"), 3 St.Michael (35"), 4 St.Bartholomew (36.5"), 5 St.Jos=
eph (40"), and 6 The Great Mother of God, Mary Most Holy (44.5") - key betw=
een E and F. Hung for ringing, but derelict.

Another earlyish RC ring was the original six - also by Blews, and dated 18=
77 - at Leamington. The tenor was 44.25 inches and 14-1-8 (scrapping weight=
) - all recast and replaced by the present eight in 1905.

On another matter - Beverley - it's worth reminding people that Canon Nollo=
th's big bells has a worthy predecessor, the original "great John" of 1703 =
by Samuel Smith, weighing 35-1-10 (scrapping weight)=20
