Big Ben Book

I bought this book in Birmingham Airport in May. I have not seen it 
mentioned in the Ringing World. It is obviously written for the general 
reader with no previous or specialised knowledge of clocks or bells. I was 
disappointed in the depth of his research and I thought more technical 
details could have been included. I was hoping that it would comment on the 
story that the first Big Ben was deliberately broken because it had been 
discovered that it was too big to go up the shaft in the tower.
I do not think it is the definitive history of the clock and bell that I had 
been expecting.
