[Bell Historians] Date touch history

 The Leeds ringers (Yorkshire) were ringing date touches in the late 1700s and early 1800s.  These are meticulously recorded in the tower record books.Andrew

There's nothing in the Ringing World index earlier than the 1990s but I
was ringing date touches in the 60s and we didn't invent the idea so I
assume it was much earlier.
