<DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>The administrative history and actual boun=

are extremely complicated - and I now know far too much about them! There i=
sn't=20
an easy answer to this one - though postal addresses and administrative are=
as=20
shouldn't be confused - but my plan is to cover the area in two books, roug=
hly=20
as follows:</FONT></DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>BIRMINGHAM - The present City (secular and=
=20
ecclesiastical locations) and the outer urban areas (e.g. Solihull MBC=
),=20
plus a) those parts of the Diocese of Birmingham in the old counties of=20
Worcestershire and Staffordshire (also), and b) the area of Warwickshire in=
=20
Birmingham Diocese (churches only). This roughly means that the main=
=20
survey area will be bounded by the motorways (M5, M6, M40 and M42) but with=
a=20
big bulge on the NE side - pretty arbitrary, though fairly c=
lear!=20
- but spilling outside the motorway ring where the Diocese extends to cover=
a=20
larger area (especially the rural bits in the NE and SW). On the north and=
=20
north-west it will include Harborne, Handsworth, and Smethwick - but n=
ot=20
the "Staffordshire" parts of the West Midlands or the whole of Dudley MBC.=
=20
</FONT></DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>WARWICKSHIRE - The whole of the rest of th=
e=20
historic county (at its greatest extent - i.e. including parts transferred =
from=20
Gloucestershire and Worcestershire) including (secular and ecclesiastical) =
the=20
rural part of Birmingham Diocese also covered (churches only) in the Birmin=
gham=20
bit. The Warwickshire book will not include any of "Birmingham" prope=
r=20
(i.e. the present City)</FONT></DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Both books will, of course, include maps t=

publication dates. Unfortunately, my spell of time out to work full-time on=
