of the CCC / London DAC in 1982. From what I recall, they were very much 8 =
+ 2=20
and I believe the two trebles arrived after the 8. I did urge that every=20
reasonable effort should be made to save them for use elsewhere. They were =
quite=20
ringable as they hung, but at risk in a much vandalized church. </FONT></DI=
V>

<DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>There were serious thoughts as to how and =
where the=20
bells might be re-used as a ring, and these were seriously followed up in=20
three places. One withdrew as it got its bells from elsewhere; another=
on=20
structural grounds, leaving one. The problem which then arose was tha=
t the=20
parish kept upping the price. The three largest bells were scrapped ea=
rly=20
in 1987; the remainder survived until 1993, when two were tuned, and four=20
trebles cast out of the remaining metal to make the chime at All=20
Hallows.</FONT></DIV>

interest in these, and have provided much of the information on that partic=

page. I do welcome John's reminiscences; not least about "paying our respec=

and refreshing ourselves at "The Golden Egg". The enhanced recording o=
f=20
course barely does TGS justice, but it does capture something of the=20
ethereal quality of what RHD and I described as "The last word in every=20
