It should be noted that th= e old tenor (cast by Thomas Bilbie) did not have the inscription "The Bible cast us all"!' It probably says "Tho Bilbie cast us all". There are other mistakes in the article - it states that a "virgin" (by whi= ch it presumably means maiden) ring is one where all the bells were cast at= the same time, whereas actually the term means that the bells haven't been= tuned. It also states that they were to be rehung in a steel frame - at th= is date, this is extremely unlikely - it's probably cast iron on a steel gr= illage. Just goes to prove that it is extremeley unwise to place any reliance on an= ything regarding bells published in newspapers!
