I would gue= ss that it probably doesn't do anything to prevent the clapper bush wearing= out due to the extra shock, as it acts more like a percussion sledgehammer= knocking away on the tower through the frame each time the bell strikes, a= nd the more play (wear) in the clapper bush the more effective it would be = at doing so. I will have to point the lack of washers out to the steeplekeeper. I know I'll be accused of being biased, etc, but I would have said=20 that it was a small price to pay for a component that's going to last=20 and last and will help prevent clappers falling out at inconvenient=20 moments! I'm sure similar washers can be purchased from other, non-bell=20 industry, suppliers - I'm not aware that WBF manufacture the flat=20 washers themselves (they certainly make the tappered ones).
