At present the bells are hung in a low-sided cast iron frame for five bells= installed by Taylors in 1938 but there is space for 3 more trebles to be a= dded. What exactly does that mean? Is there a grillage for eight or just space fo= r three more? I was interested to see from your book that Blankney (where I= also rang yesterday, along with Dunston and several others) are in a Taylo= r eight-bell frame with space for a treble and a tenor. This is a fairly un= usual thing to do, although there are other examples - I believe the Barwel= l 8-bell frame at Albrighton, Shropshire, was designed for the addition of = a treble and a tenor, although in the event the bells were augmented from s= ix by adding two trebles.
