I have kept it to the old counties of Durham and Northumberland but not included anything less than three. There will be areas of the country that have many more "Trafalgar" bells than Northumbria so lets be sensible about the amount of info please. COUNTY DURHAM Durham Cathedral 3 of 10 1780 Pack & Chapman 4 of 10 1693 Christopher Hodson 5 of 10 1781 Chapman & Mears 7 of 10 1693 Christopher Hodson 8 of 10 1693 Christopher Hodson 9 of 10 1693 Christopher Hodson 10 of 10 1693 Christopher Hodson Durham St Nicholas the back five of the six are an original five all by James Bartlett 1687 Heighington the front three of the six are by an unknown founder circa 1425 Middleton in Teesdale the almost unringable three now rehung as swing chimers by E. & S. 1 of 3 1557 unknown founder 2 of 3 1697 Samuel Smith 1 3 of 3 1780 Pack & Chapman Sedgefield The back four of the present six were all cast by Samuel Smith 1 in 1707. The 1490 tenor of the old five is now only hung for swing chiming. Interestingly Samuel Smith also cast a tenor bell to make up the six but there was a disagreement over the price and the bell was never hung and to my understanding it was unloaded at Northallerton. The old oak frame of 1707 was for six.
