I think there were manually operated Ellacombe hammers on the quarter bells=
- they came from the back bells at York Minster when the Ellacombe apparat=
us there was dismantled. Not sure whether there are manual hammers on the n=
ew bells as well.
The citizens of Hull will probably be glad of some entertainment. It's poss=
ible to obtain a car window sticker which announces 'it's never dull in Hul=
l' with a definite irony. I've also seen T-shirts bearing the slogan 'fcuk =
in Hull'. Very apt, some might say...
