I have s= ome scans of photographs of the church, and also of the removal of the bell= s in May 1967 (some from David Cawley, and some of them taken by Chris Dalt= on) which, with the permission of DC/CD, I could ask the moderator to post= =20 Paddington, St.Michael and All Angels, Star Street (Middlesex) Walters Ms - Church 1864. Eight bells by Warner Church by Major Rhode Hawkins, 1861. Demolished 1970 (Binney & Burman p.25= 0) Bells were dated 1861. Rehanging by Warners in 1912 reported in Ringing Wor= ld. Report of ringing on the back six by Ron Dove and others in Ringing Wor= ld 23 June 1933 (Ex.inf. Chris Dalton) Letter from Ron Dove in Ringing World 10 February 1989 p.120 recalling ring= ing at Star Street in 1933. The bells were by Warner, 1861.=20=20 According to the Ringing World 12 April 1912 the bells were rehung at that = time by John Warner & Sons, but David Cawley (who saw the bells in the dere= lict tower) reckoned that little work was done then. The church was badly d= amaged in the war. The bells were still in the tower of the derelict church= in November 1966. Photographs of the bells in their frame, with one bell "= up". Removed in May 1967, and metal used towards a new light octave for All= Saints, Tooting Graveney. Warner catalogue, 1877, includes an undated testimonial from the churchward= en regarding the eight bells and chiming apparatus supplied by Warners for = the church Taylor records - old bells received at Loughborough 2 May 1967, 29.75" 6-0-= 26 (6-0-22), 31" 6-1-21 (6-1-17), 33" 7-1-4 (7-1-0), 35.125" 7-2-6 (7-2-0),= 38" 9-3-25 (9-3-23), 39.875" 11-2-23 (11-2-20), 43.5" 13-3-13 (13-3-10), 4= 8" 18-1-7 (18-1-4) - gross and (nett) weights Bells, frame and fittings were by Warner, 1861. There was a very minor reh= anging, retaining the strap-type gudgeons, in 1912, again by Warner. Tenor = was said to weigh 19-2-14 which would be consistent with diameter of 48.5 i= nches, note E, and Doncaster head. 1, 2, 3, 5 hung on the upper tier and 4= , 6, 7, 8 below and they all swung in the same direction. Tower was built = of brick, rectangular (i.e. oblong) on plan, and walls were 2-and-a-half br= icks (i.e. less than 2 feet) thick at belfry stage.(Ex.Inf.
