<DIV>The Ringing World for October 24, 1913 (page 273) has Dr A B Carpenter's 

obituary, and in this it states that he was a keen and strong  churchman, 

and churchwarden at St James, Croydon for many years.</DIV>

  is the Arthur B. Carpenter named in the inscription the noted Surrey ringer? I 

  assume so, but it would be interesting to know for sure if he was a 

  churchwarden of a church without a ring of bells.</FONT></DIV>
