<P>Philip Earis has mentioned the "first peal" that was "rung" at Newgate
<BR>in 1690. He is not a happy bunny that it is unrecognised as such by the
<BR>CC. What documentary evidence is there that a peal was actually rung
<BR>at this time? Why would the performance not be repeated in the
<BR>intervening 25 years between this performance and the Norwich first
