last year. Church very much as it is in the 28 days posting; CCT with a nice
guide book, but really rather run down. Church is one of Austin and
Paley's glories, and the bells a slightly heavier sister ring to the
former eight at The Saviour, Bolton (a sister church, also magnificent,
demolished), which are now the back 8 at the Parish Church.</FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Yes, St Bartholomew's six were alas scrapped. There
was a rather sad/amusing <EM>Ringing World</EM> account of a ringing
meeting there held in a terrific rainstorm. The lead off the roof had gone and
water poured down in torrents on the riungers who had gone there for a last
ring.</FONT></DIV>

trustees. A rope broke during the <BR>visit and the bell chamber contained a
number of dead pigeons but the bells <BR>were otherwise in a ringable
condition. Gordon Birks is responsible for the <BR>tower but I don't believe
