Like Chris, I too am saddened but not surprised with Paul's passing.

It was all Paul's fault that I became a ringer. :-)<br>
<br>
Paul and I met on the playing fields of the City of Norwich School in
late 1955. As a choir boy, I used to chime the bells at St.
Catherine, Mile Cross, a relocated light six once ringable at St. Mary
Coslany in Norwich. After much discussion, Paul finally convinced
me to go along and watch 'real' ringing at St. George Colegate one
damp February evening in 1956. I was hooked. However, Paul did not
teach me to ring, as that duty was undertaken by the late Dr. David
Heighton.<br>

Paul and I often rang together with others of our age throughout
Norfolk and north Suffolk, both quarters and peals., until my parents
carted me off to Canada in September 1958.<br>
<br>
Although we lost touch for a while, our friendship was renewed after we
bumped into one another during the 1970's, when I was once again living
in the UK. Although not as regular as we would have liked, we have
kept in touch since then and we attempted to see him and Barbara
anytime our journey took us to Norfolk.<br>
<br>
We shall miss him and his quiet manner.<br>
