possess a shield cast in bell metal as the trophy for the District striking
competition. It was a gift from Paul Taylor of the Loughborough Foundry in 1981.
It was said at the time to be one of only three in existence, cast of bell
metal and the trademark of Hugh Watts, master bell-founder of
<ST1>Leicester</ST1> in the mid 16<SUP>th</SUP> century.
