Taylors always used to cast all the iron-work required for bell work. It was my understanding that they closed their iron foundry soon after the last financial problems in the late 1970s, but had re-opend it again more recently.

Whitechapel have, as far as I am aware, never cast their own iron components (there simply isn't room in their relatively small premises) and have always subcontracted the work - for many years, until they closed, to Mather Smith in Ashford, Kent.

I believe G & J also had an iron foundry for the production of their ferrous components.
Andrew Wilby's recent letter of announcement regarding the future of
the Taylor bellfoundry included the words "highest standards of bell
and iron founding." I must confess to having been surprised at that.
In spite of my long familiarity with the excellence of Taylor's work
(having begun to learn carillon playing on a Taylor instrument more
than half a century ago), I had never been aware that they were
involved in casting iron.
