There is a ringer's notebook in the Guildford DG library which Malcolm
Loveday had come across and which he showed at a district striking
competition some months back.

It was handwritten in beautiful copperplate writing and made references
to a few towers in the Middlesex / London area and included details of
some peals but no definitives dates or names.

The library was considering what to do with this book in the longer
term.
Hello Everyone,

I have been offered an original handwritten ringer's notebook, probably
dating back to the early 1800's. The book plate says 'Ernest Bryan
Gipps'.

The title is 'A key to the art of Ringing', which is the printed title
page. The next page, also printed, says 'Northumberland Yorkshire'.
There are then three pages of instructions and the rest of the 32 page
book is handwritten.

Does anyone have an idea who Ernest Bryan Gipps is or where he rang?

What would a book of this type be worth?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Best wishes

Alan Ellis
