wine. That is the tradition in Germany. I found this out some years ago at the
reopening of the new organ in Bath Abbey where the organ builder said that the
tradition was for part payment for the organ was traditionally made in the
volume of wine which would fill the largest pipe in the organ. In the case of
the Abbey that pipe is a wooden 32' </span>Double Open Diapason<span style="font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%; font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; color: black;"> so rather a lot of wine!<br>
