The clock tower is located in Bramley Road Sports Ground,
previously known as DeBohun Park, an area of land believed to have
been donated to the people of Southgate by the DeBohun family but
I have not found any firm evidence of this. The source of this was
my late Mother who was friends with a man (Alan ?) who was a local
historian who wrote the history of schools in Southgate. The clock
tower is most definitely in Southgate N14 as Bramley Road is the
boundary. I have known the clock tower all my life, being born in
1950 and well remember the chimes as I attended the adjacent
DeBohun School. From my recollection, the clock chimed the first
two lines of “Girls and Boys” on the hour followed by the
appropriate number of hour strikes and a shorter - only one line -
on the quarter past, half past, and quarter to. The clock fell in
to disrepair many years ago - a cannot recall when I last heard it
strike, but would suggest it was at the end of the 1990s. Two
years ago, it was surrounded with scaffolding and some works are
apparent. As previously advised, I have seen a van from a clock
restorers present but have mislaid their name. However, the name
Taylor mentioned below could be S.G. Taylor found on the Internet
which does sound familiar. Also seen has been a van from a bell
foundry as previously advised.

The comment on the chime being five notes would seem correct as
the first two lines of the song can be played on five notes. The
hour strike was the lowest note.

I trust that this may help answer the enquiry. Please let me know
if there are any further queries.
