It is being designed with best practice in mind, and any change will be recorded. It is a long way from simply updating a spreadsheet! Richard Smith and I were even discussing the new system aspect that will log changes to the recorded changes that can take place, to ensure a robust record. Getting the design right is so important, it has necessarily taken time to get it right, built and operating correctly.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>The current development phases are to reproduce what is already recorded so that it can sit squarely in this new database, and announcements regarding progress to this will be made in the next fortnight. We are moving over the info that we already have as completely as possible, although the quality of updates will naturally be improved in the new system.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>In terms of the future, we are clear that there are different interested stakeholders in Dove data, and our requirements management will attempt to address them widely, and prioritise accordingly. The aim is indeed for a single bells database. We are also looking at the management of the data, and I am aware that this will require different dimensions of expertise, and I have begun conversations with some of those people to bring them on board. The quality of the data is key here, and that includes the quality and rigour of updating.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>We absolutely welcome feedback and ideas, and CJP in particular will know (I hope) that anything he says to me will not be met with deaf ears!
