Can I take a slightly different view? Pealboards such as this one are bloomin’ expensive! I know, we have some of this type at Allesley, including one bought in my time there.</div>

I hardly think is likely that such a large discrepancy about the day and date would have got through the proofreading stage of production. It is about as certain as we can be that the pealboard is correct.</div>

It is much more likely that the peal was rung on a Saturday as this would have been at least a half-day and Wednesday would have been a working day.</div>

Looks rather simple to me. The Bell News normally published after a delay. A peal arrives, with

the wrong date, and as it is the week for printing ones of that date, it gets added in at the last

minute.<br>

When Bell News arrives on the mat of the sender, and realises he'd put the wrong date (I'd guess
<br>
he didn't submit the day originally), he sends in a correction.<br>
