I've been bell spotting again today. Had a look at the little Taylor six
at Stockton-on-the-Forest, a four of 1895 with two 1980 trebles. It's
usual for 20th century Taylor bells to bear one or two casting numbers
on the outside of their crowns, but the four at Stockton have them on
the INSIDE. Logic suggests that they were moved to the outside shortly
afterwards when Taylor's acquired a new tuning machine which cut right
up into the crown of the bell.
