There are three bells at Saxton in Yorkshire which were all cast at the same
time to commemorate the battle of Towton in 1461. They have been rehung
(Taylors 1982) in a wooden frame but have not been altered in any other way.
Thus the same bell sound has been eminating from the tower for nearly 550
years.
Are they the oldest complete set unaltered since?
