Someone asked about the steel bell in the ringing room at Hale. I've just been chatting to John Wilton, he tells me that bell was one that Eayre and Smith used to experiment with some initial tunings; by implication, it never formed part of the ringing peal. I forgot to ask him where it came from, but will do so next time we speak. Bill H
