Socketted stays: JT & Co didn't have the monopoly of everything.

Warners used them on their CI stocks (including the Minster!)
Llewellins & James on their CI stocks.
Mears on many of theirs until the 30's
Gillett & Johnston on all their cast-iron stocks, both the 'Loughborough' t=
ype and the web-section type, right up to the end.
And, of course, Moore, Holmes and Mackenzie used them (centrally placed) ye=
ars before Taylors introduced them.=20=20

All the same, the bell IS JT, but from the records, not the socketted stock=
!

Happy New Year to all

If the founder can be identified (and if it's a socketed stay that sounds=
like Taylor's) then it might well be possible to identify the bell.
