One of the Sunday Times' 'Houses of the Week', featured in its Property
supplement on 23rd of February, was a converted church in Cheshire (sic):

"The agents are keen to avoid spooky references, but this leasehold
converted chapel is built above a crypt owned by the Brocklehurst family,
who enjoy a right of access to the remains of their ancestors via a trap
door in the grounds. The early 20th century Swythamley chapel was converted
in 1989 into a three-bedroom home, but retains its leaded glass windows and
carved stone arches. Oh, and in the study is the mechanism for the
eight-bell peal. Price £595,000 - Jackson-Stops & Staff (01625 540 340)."

Presumably the bells referred to are the 1905 13cwt Taylor chime that
features on Mike Chester's list as Swythamley Park, Staffs. Does anyone
know more about them and how they came to be left in the tower when the
chapel was converted?
