Very briefly, Taylors inspected them in 1966

3rd (1638) cracked in soundbow and should be recast
4th(1676) has a bad flaw in the head, forming a large "scab" and instead of=
a solid casting the head is quite hollow. If financial considerations per=
mit, advise recast
Remaining 3 bells by Thomas Gardiner of Sudbury, 1724 and 1745 - remove sta=
ples and tune

Ringing fittings are of great age and absolutely beyond repair

The frame is too far gone to permit of any form of restoration or repair an=
d we can only advise that it be completely removed and that the five bells =
be rehung dead on steel girders. Ellacombe apparatus suggested

I think that the work must have been carried out by others.

Great Clacton nearby were rehung dead (on the old frame) and a treble added=
about the same time

Does anybody have any details of the ring of 5 at St Michael's, Ramsey, n=
ear
Harwich?

They are currently hung dead, not having been rung full circle since the
early part of the last century, I believe.

thanks, Martin
