[Bell Historians] Big single ringing bells

I have a decent photo of Gt Tom, Oxford, on its original(?) stock -
the bearings are roughly level with the top of the crown (bottom of
the cannons and the wheel is large enough to extend well beyond the lip.
No sign of stay or slider however.
