There is a letter from Ray Clayton about this bell - with inscription and diameter, and a note that "it was stated in literature printed at the time that it [the tower] was to contain a ring of 12 bells" - in RW 7 Oct.1988 pp.944-5. The bell weighs 31-0-26

Mike Chester's wedding photo is on the same page!!!

Does anyone ever recall seeing an article in "The Ringing World"
about St Walburghs, Preston?
I was thinking of writing an article for the comic on the
large single ringing bell there (31cwt), and its role as the
(intended) tenor of a ring of twelve.
Also does anyone know if Whitechapel would be helpful in
supplying a little information for the article and how much they
would charge?
Thanks
Alan
