I seem to recall visiting somewhere last year where there was no proper
cathedra. The Bishop gets to sit in the stall where the mitred Abbot of the
pre dissolution organisation sat. I think it was St David's?
There is of course Dublin where they ended up with two Cathedrals but hey,
that's Ireland!
I think all English Diocese have sufferagan Bishops now. Peterborough was
the last to appoint one some 15 years ago? It wasn't known as the dead see
for nothing.
The Diocese of Gibraltar and Malta in Europe, whose Bishop operates from
Gatwick Airport, has no assistant I think, but I suppose its not an English
diocese.
Ah! I think I'm right in saying that there is a cathedra in both churches.
Sort that one out!
