Plain bearing housings

St Paul, Lostock Hall, Lancs has plain bearing housings of which I 
have not seen before (picture in photos).
Each housing is a "U" shape which bolts directly onto (not recessed 
into) the top cills of the frame.
The bell is hung for ringing, of unusual shape, retains its canons 
and has no inscriptions or ornamentation
Has anyone else ever seen this type of bearing?
