Only two of the carillons of Belgium contain bells by U.K. founders.
The grand carillon of the University Library in Leuven (Louvain) was
made by G&J in 1928, with 48 bells, basis F# of 7 tons.
Unfortunately the trebles were replaced by Eijsbouts in the major
renovation and expansion of 1983. (Mind you, the Eijsbouts bells are
excellent; but in view of the history of the instrument it would have
been nice if English bells could have been used.) 32 G&J basses and
mids survive.
In 1930-34, G&J added 13 bells to the carillon of St.Jan-Evangelist,
Luik (Liège); all survive, though the instrument is not played any
more.
