>From the deepest memory of my Grade 5 music theory exam and practical
woodwind exams I seem to recall that the notes in a melodic minor
scale are different when ascending from the tonic to those played
when descending towards it.

The scale of C Melodic Minor has just an Eb on the way up from C to
C, but Bb, Ab & Eb on the way down.

Therefore is it not impossible to have a ring of bells in a melodic
minor scale? (Or just impractical?!)
