The Leigh on Sea bells were for St. Margaret's Church, Leigh-on-Sea, Essex.
They were to be donated by an aggregate contractor who unfortunately went
bankrupt and was unable to pay for the bells. The concrete core of the tower
was built including an integral bellframe. Prittlewell ringers spent their
Christmas Holiday putting the floors in. But all to no avail. The bells were
upturned in the foundry for some time and a course of Grandsire Triples was
tapped out on them. The tower was demolished last year.

I would be very interested to know whether any of the surviving Leigh bells
have any inscriptions on them that relate to the original donor( A.J.Brush I
think!)
