How could I have forgotten the Pertwood bell? Perhaps I was thinking it was=
still in Jasmine Cottage, Chilcompton which is where I last saw it! I reme=
mber it being on the floor of Hindon church for several years. Luckily, it =
survived not being stolen. The nice people who now own Pertwood church have=
restored it beautifully and wanted the bell returned. Sadly, it was felt t=
hat such an important bell should not be returned to a church no longer in =
the parochial system. Matthew made an excellent replica which is now in the=
open cote.

Seems that Salisbury Museum is high on the list of taking the prize for mos=
t bells in a non-bells museum?
