Going on from Whoops!

The most embarassing thing is that I am one of the present feofees!

It is amazing the amount of duff information which has been perpetrated thi=
s week. We had water in Bishop Latimer's belfry, and the non-Taylor non-Gri=
mthorpe Bell of Bed City (which, by the way is not a spoof), plus the good =
story - forget what it was now, something to do with CFJ - exposed in a mas=
terly fashion by CJP. Off line an expert gave me information about a coupl=
e of towers - turned out in each case the bells were in the other church of=
the parish. Another expert gave the information about the supposed single =
tubular chime at Wavertree which turns out to be a chime of six hemispheric=
als.

Enough to keep even John Camp awake!

Fact though. Dawson may not have drunk my wine, but he has had many a delic=
ious cup of Vicarage tea

Must be the weather

Well its been interesting to see the discussion on this bell & the expert=
s comments!=20
1. It isn't Grimthorpe
2. It isn't Taylor
3. The inscription includes:
=20=20=20
FEOFFEE GAVE THIS BELL 1823
=20=20=20
The bell has traditional canons, and most interestingly has as a decorati=
on the running border used by the Nottingham founders [Lincs 160]. Now the =
only early 19th century founder doing facsimile inscriptions that I know of=
is.................................................Whitechapel.
