Shalford are a 6 by 'Old' John Warner of London in 1789 although the tenor
was recast in 1866 by Warners.
The recent discovery of George L Hanks notebook in Cincinnatti (Hanks was an
American bellfounder), which contains extracts from the manuscripts of the
Hedderly family of Nottingham (UK) and Philadelphia (America) has shown that
this installation was not the sole work of Old John.
George Hedderly was a Nottingham bellfounder from 1785 until 1793 when he
'emigrated' to America. The extracts show that Hedderly did not work alone
as previously thought but collaborated with both John Briant of Hertford
and Warner.
In the Shalford case the ring was partially cast when Hedderly was called
in, and altered the design of the ring, replacing the already cast treble
and altering the settings of the two tenors. It is clear that after the
bells were cast he was still not satisfied with the result.
I give below the entire extract:

Shalford Surrey, extracted from Hanks Notebook pages 8 & 9.
