Pitches of big bells

I have measured the pitches of the tenors at St Paul's and Exeter
Cathedrals, and at Sherborne Abbey (although the last is not particularly
heavy). Also the Peter bell at Exeter.

St Paul's: Nominal Bb exactly. Fundamental/prime A + 42. Hum mid-way
between Bb/B. Sounds better than you would expect from these figures, which
is more than you can say for some of the other bells there...

Exeter Grandison: Bb - 21 the nominal, fundamental and hum. (The tierce is
Db exactly.)

Exeter Peter: Nominal A + 21. Fundamental split between A - 7 and A + 3.
Hum A + 30. (Tierce Db - 45.) A marvellous-sounding bell.

Sherborne: Nominal Bb + 17. Fundamental Bb + 22. Hum Bb + 17. A shame
that the bell-hole in the vaulting wouldn't allow a bigger bell for these
pitches...
