I will contact Fr. Cawley off list.
I would agree with David that the Hale back six are very fair.
The Merseyside squad did a good job in retuning the ex Hale bells.
I don't recall Ingleton being too bad either years ago (and they
have not been tuned) and still hang with full ringing fittings.
One thing that would be interesting to know is if NV changed the
profiles for their bells during the timescale they were casting bells.
Dare I suggest that some sets of steel bells would have been very
acceptable when first supplied?

in a cast-iron frame. Before that they hung with the NV fittings in a
4 bell frame adapted for 5. They were certainly shot-blasted to
remove rust & muck, then painted black with "Waxoyl"; they were not
tuned; and as far as I remember they retain their flange heads. So
the original weight - as I say quoted from their original legtters
and invoice - can stand, unless anyone knows better. It is a good job.

contact me off this site. I must modestly decline MC's claim that I
gave him those diameters as I don't have them, and have not
corresponded with anyone about Belmont in my life until this.

had this attempted were the ex-Bootle ring now at Hale. At Bootle,
they were described as 'notorious' but the recording I heard of the
Hale bells was very fair.
