Probably rail by this date. It is reckoned that the first bells to be 
transported by rail were the 1840 Mears ring of thirteen for Leeds Parish 
Church.

Thanks. Canals do seem to have still been used in the 1840's. Both
Bradford and sent bells to be recast at Whitechapel via the Kennet and Avon.
The wharfage charge for the new Bradford bell was 10/-.
