Those of you who have rung at Boston will be aware of the problems. When
the bells recast and augmented to ten in 1932 a scheme was produced by which
the ringers would stand above the bells! Both Taylor's and Whitechapel
rejected this proposal but G&J developed what they believed to be a feasible
system for which they took out a patent. So far as is known this was never
installed and at Boston the authorities rejected it. Would such a scheme
work?
