The apparatus they use now is essentially a cassette tape recorder 
(supplied by some Irish firm) wired up to speakers in the steeple. The 
remains of the altogether more sophisticated "Compton Bourne Change Ringer" 
were still in the old ringing chamber when I last visited - but in a state 
of total dereliction, with valves missing and wires hanging out.

I wonder if there is one of these things still working anywhere? I believe 
they only ever made a handful of them.
