I've just discovered that there is a single bell in the tower at St.
Mary's Derby. It is a magnificent Pugin tower. Does anyone know more
about the bell, and the plans for more bells, if they ever existed.
Derby, Derbyshire, St Mary, 1 bell, 18-1-7 in Eb. Roman Catholic.
Derelict. (Derbys).
It all sounds rather similar to St. Michael and all angels, Mount
Dinham, Exeter. There is an 18 cwt (?) bell in the tower there. It
was cast by Taylors as the 9 of a ring of Ten. It is a great tragedy
that these bells never made it to the tower. Would be nice to see
such a splendid tower equipped with bells.
Ditto St. Mary's
Any ideas?
