I think this is the one featured many years ago in the ringing world.
In the early days of electricity the power was DC and Whitechapel
electrified there lathe an ancient wood framed one. the motor served for
many many years but eventually there was no longer DC to drive it and after
being left for years it was stripped and the copper from it added to Cornish
tin and cast into the workshop bell.
I am sure someone has the article or knows where there is a copy.
