We have a framed photo on the wall in Towcester tower of the bell, taken
over 100 years ago. I was looking at it the other days thinking it could do
with being unpacked, cleaned and rehung.
I could scan it at the same time and make copies available to anyone
interested.
The handwritten inscription on the photo says "Presented to the Towcester
Belfry by J Jenkinson 1890 something"?
He was a local banker and wool merchant who owned the adjacent Chantry
House.
He was a non ringer so far as I know but, being a man of wealth, may have
made a trip to Russia and taken the photo himself.
