 I wonder why they have the arched stocks? Is there likely to be

As John Baldwin said, we almost certainly would have Fred's report in 
the Sharpe Collection. Equally though, there is, no doubt, a 
reference to the reason for this style of headstock in Taylor's file, 
but given how long it takes to find this sort of this, I would be loath 
to call upon the good nature of Mr Higson once again!
