I've been exploring the census returns on ancestry.co.uk, and find that in
1871 William Henry Maxwell Blews was a 'South American Merchant and a
???[can't read it] contractor. Church bell founder appears on the line
below against his wife, Fanny. I presume this was an overflow, much as I
like the idea of a female bellfounder in Victorian times. He wasn't a
bellfounder in 1861, just a merchant and manufacturer and by 1881 he was a
'contractor'.
