There has been confusion over the current status of the bells. i.e. whether
they were included in the sale to Salisbury District Council.

The Diocese has (today) confirmed that the bells were included in the sale
and therefore no longer fall within the faculty jurisdiction. However, I am
assured that the listing of the frame and the four bells of 1656 remains in
force and that SDC, as owner of the listed building, is aware of this.
Therefore, any proposal to dispose of the frame and bells or to carry out
alterations or repair would be subject to Listed Building Consent.

Please don't ask the obvious question but one would hope that the procedure
in place is sufficient to safeguard the bells and frame.

Neil Skelton.

P.S. It looks as though I am going to be looking after the peal boards for
some years to come!
