While on holiday in Cornwall we came across a Mears and Stainbank bell
dated 1876.

It was mounted in a granite bellcote standing at ground level in Pine
Lodge Gardens, Holmbush, St Austell.

Construction of the garden commenced only 30 years ago and this appears
to be a late acquisition (the owner has a passion for granite).

I suspect that members of this group may already be aware of this "find"
but, if not, then I have photographs for anyone who may be interested. A
fellow ringer has even recorded the sound of the bell on his mobile
phone!

I believe the bell and bellcote, which were bought at an auction, were
formerly located at a school.
